C1256 (also written DTC C1256, "accumulator low pressure") is a fault code shown by your Toyota's brake computer. It means the ABS unit cannot hold the right brake pressure - the accumulator and pressure sensor inside the ABS unit (also called the ABS pump or brake actuator) are failing. The unit is broken from inside and needs to be replaced. Repair does not last long.
When C1256 comes, you will see 3 lights on the dashboard: ABS light, brake (!) light, and VSC light. In hybrid cars, you may also see a "Check Hybrid System" warning because brake recharging uses the same ABS unit. The car is not safe to drive. Normal brakes still work, but ABS, traction control and brake recharging are all off.
