C1256 and C1391 on your Toyota Prius point to one part - the ABS pump / accumulator. C1256 is "accumulator low pressure" and C1391 is the "ABS pump motor", and they almost always appear together because they come from the same failing unit. In plain words: your Prius ABS unit has failed internally and needs replacing - it can no longer build or hold brake pressure. We fix it with a genuine imported Prius ABS unit: free fitting, warranty card, no advance payment.
Yes - we fix this every day on the Prius. Here's exactly what it is and what it costs. When C1256 Toyota Prius or C1391 Toyota Prius shows up, the ABS actuator (also called the ABS pump or brake booster pump) is faulty. Your normal brakes still work, but ABS, VSC and the Prius's brake regeneration are off.
We fit a 100% genuine new Prius ABS unit, give you a warranty card, do free fitting anywhere in Pakistan, and clear both codes on the spot.
No advance payment. Pay only after all warning lights are gone.

Simple explanation in easy words
On the Toyota Prius, C1256 means "accumulator low pressure" and C1391 means "ABS pump motor". Both come from the Prius's brake computer, and both point to the same part - the ABS pump / accumulator assembly (also called the ABS actuator or brake booster pump). The pump motor builds the pressure; the accumulator stores it. When the motor weakens (C1391) it can no longer keep the accumulator charged, so the computer also logs low pressure (C1256).
That is why C1256 Toyota Prius and C1391 Toyota Prius almost always appear together. In plain words: the one ABS unit has failed inside and needs to be replaced - repair does not last long. When the fault comes you usually see three dashboard lights together: the ABS light, the brake (!) light and the slip / VSC light. Because the Prius is a hybrid, brake regeneration uses the same ABS unit, so you may notice less mileage too. Normal brakes still work, but ABS, traction control and brake recharging are off.
Can I drive my Prius with this fault?
Not recommended. With this fault showing, your Prius's ABS, traction control and brake recharging are all off, and the ABS pump may run constantly. Get it fixed quickly - we come to you anywhere in Pakistan.
People look this up as "Prius ABS pump failure", "brake booster pump", "accumulator low pressure prius", "abs accumulator prius", "prius abs actuator", "prius abs module" or just the VSC / brake / ABS lights being on. It is all the same fault - a failed ABS pump / accumulator unit on the Toyota Prius. The same code also appears on other Toyota and Lexus hybrids; for those, see our C1256 on other Toyota models page.

Common questions about C1256 & C1391 on the Toyota Prius
C1256 on the Toyota Prius means accumulator low pressure. The ABS unit can no longer build or hold the brake pressure the system needs, so the ABS, brake (!) and VSC warning lights come on. It points to the Prius ABS actuator assembly, which needs to be replaced.
C1391 on the Toyota Prius is an ABS pump motor fault - the motor that pressurises the brake accumulator has failed or is drawing too much current. It is part of the same ABS actuator assembly as C1256, which is why the two codes usually appear together.
Both codes come from the same part - the Prius ABS pump / accumulator assembly. When the pump motor weakens (C1391) it can no longer keep the accumulator charged, so the computer also logs low pressure (C1256). Replacing the one ABS actuator assembly clears both codes.
Not recommended. Your normal brakes still work, but ABS, traction control and the Prius's regenerative braking are off, so braking is compromised - especially in rain. The ABS pump may also run constantly. Get it fixed quickly.
